8th Anniversary of Shaykh Ahmed Deedat’s Passing

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

August 8th, 2005. That was the day the da’wah luminary, the forefather to contemporary da’wah carriers  passed away after a career in which cc-2013-deedathe inspired millions to carry on the torch of Islam. His legacy is one of awe and pure class, not only did he rise to the very top during his time, but his efforts opened the way for Muslims to re-engage Christianity and to return to giving da’wah in a mass scale. Whether today is the final day of fasting or ‘Eid for you, please make du’a for this man, that Allaah rewards him with Jannat ul Firdous and that his grave is spacious and filled with the fragrance of Jannah. Ameen.

His many debates, lectures and dialogues are still very relevant and useful. Despite deceits of from popular missionaries, they have been unable to match the scale to which this man brought modern apologetics to. Thousands lined attended his debates, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands to this day continue to watch and learn from his videos. I don’t know of a single Christian missionary today who can full a stadium, or theater with several thousand persons. Muslims and Christians alike, traveled far and wide to meet him in South Africa, many sought his guidance in which he dedicated the time and effort to aiding them over the phone. Even when he got ill, the fire inside him to guide the misguided and defend Islam never stopped. Below is the video of his funeral, watch the day that a lion amongst men passed into a better world.

The Death of Christ is Meaningless

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

As recently as November of last year I’ve been examining the nature of Christ’s “death”. I published a couple musings about it, didn’t receive much in the way of answers, as much as I did receive criticisms by one particular has been. Building on my studies and discussions with significantly more intelligent Christian missionaries and apologists, I decided to author a piece expressing more of my logical expansions on the topic at hand.

This is the result, a 1000+ word article that uses Christian references and explanations to describe the nature of Christ’s death, leading to a pretty interesting conclusion. Despite writing the article, my curiosity about the ‘death’ of a God is still there. I can’t fathom how an absolute, all powerful deity can perish, whether metaphorically or otherwise.  I suppose there’s much more to come from this area of study.

The article is available via the Muslim Debate Initiative’s website.

Sister Elisabeth S. had this to say about the article:

“This article is definitely a masterpiece. It’s exactly one of the questions that led me away from Christianity. As for Thabiti Anyabwile, my parents are huge fans of his, and met him after I converted to Islam, and put me in touch with him, and I asked him why he left Islam so shortly after his conversion, he listed his reasons, and I answered back explaining how those reasons were the very ones that led me to Islam, and never heard back from him – this is one of them. This is by far the best and clearest exposition of it I’ve read. May it be used to guide at least a few confused souls.”

Br. Paul Daniel, a Christian convert to Islam had this to say:

Well put together, I can picture less educated or interested persons clicking off and getting lost easily, but the facts are argued well
and the logic is theologically sound.

Interaction with James White of AO Ministries

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

Very recently I published an article on the Muslim Debate Initiative’s website on the Christian mandate of believing in the Graeco-Roman New Testament as a scripture. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries sought to do an informal response (and yes, I’d like to acknowledge it as such), on his ‘Dividing Line‘ program, minutes 34 to 41. It would be in our readers’ best interests to listen to the criticisms James lays out before continuing with reading my response to him.

I listened intently to what he had to say and then I respectfully replied in this post, once again published on the Muslim Debate Initiative’s website. It’s certainly a healthy, and lively theological interaction between two individuals on opposite ends of the religious spectrum. Do listen to what James has to say, and do enjoy my response to him.

Please note: I was incorrectly named as Ijaz Muhammad on AO’s website, my pen name is Ijaz Ahmad – it has not changed.

What is the Evidence that the Injeel Ever Existed?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

The Injeel is the revelation from God which Muslims believe was given to Jesus the Christ. Christians often ask, where is the historical record of such a document or where are the witnesses to its existence. Using simple logic, I’m going to demonstrate that Christ did in fact receive revelation/ revealed knowledge from God, proving the Islamic claim.

1. Jesus Christ is a Prophet (Matthew 11:9; Mark 6:15; Luke 7:16; 24:19 [parallel to Matt 21:11]; John 7:40; 9:17 – Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary).
2. A prophet is one who receives knowledge from God, whether that be in the form of commands, guidance, historical narratives etc, this is known as revelation.
3. Thus Christ received revelation (revealed knowledge) from God because he is a Prophet of God.

We don’t have to put a name on this knowledge, but the very fact that he did receive knowledge from God as a Prophet – is enough to substantiate the Islamic claim that he did indeed, receive revelation (knowledge). Thus qualifying the Islamic position.

Islam does go one step forward and names this revelation, the “Injeel“, but giving the knowledge from God to Christ a title, does not negate the knowledge itself or the probability of its existence.

Logically speaking, once a Christian accepts that Christ was a Prophet, and are claiming he received no revelation, then they are claiming one or more of the below statements:

1. Christ was not a true Prophet (as he was a Prophecy-less Prophet).
2. Christ’s knowledge from God did not truly come from God (thus he was a false Prophet).
3. If he was a Prophet (as proved above) and did not get revelation from God, then it must be Satanic in origin.

Since the Christian cannot accept these points, he has no choice but to concede that Christ did receive revelation from God and thus the Christian would have qualified the Islamic claim. There is one closing portion of advice I would like to quote:

“You must agree. You cannot say, as so many students and others do, “ I find nothing wrong with your premises, and no errors in reasoning, but I don’t agree with your conclusions.” All you can possibly mean by saying some thing like that is that you do not like the conclusions. You are not disagreeing. You are expressing your emotions or prejudices.” – How to Read a Book, Mortimer J. Adler.

Feel free to use this quote when using the above logical argument to demonstrate the Christian’s weakness of intellect and coherent reasoning.

Refutation: How can Jesus be God when he will be in eternal subjection?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

Question:

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:28 that Christ will be subject to God forever:

When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

In light of this eternal subjection how can any Christian believe that Jesus is God?

Refutation: If Yahweh alone is the Creator, and Jesus a servant sent by him, how can Jesus be God?

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ,

Question:

Isaiah 44:24 says that Yahweh was alone when he created the heavens and the earth. Matthew 12:18 quotes Isaiah 42:1 which says that Yahweh will send his servant, who is Jesus. Now if Yahweh was the one true God (Exodus 20:2-3) who alone created the heavens and the earth and he was the one who was to send his servant (Jesus), then that means that Jesus is not Yahweh. Why then do Christians contradict what their own Bible teaches?
