Pastor Condemns Christians Who Pray for Forgiveness

This is an absolutely priceless video. Pastor Martin Richling of the ‘Scripture Alone Bible School’,has released a video, confirming what Muslims have been saying to Christians for centuries.

Why do you pray for forgiveness if Christ already died for your sins?

Forgiveness is to ask for the sin to be absolved by God – the absolute moral authority. Yet, how can you ask God to forgive you, if He’s already forgiven you? Seems a bit redundant, but nevertheless, it’s still being done by the Christian faithful. The Calvinists did try to answer this theological dilemma by claiming only the elect are forgiven, because although all are open to salvation, only the elect have accepted this sacrificial gift by Christ.

He provides Muslims will a solid rebuttal to Christian apologists by reminding us of these verses:

13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[a] alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. – Colossians 2:13-15.

According to these verses, he’s already forgiven the sins of all of us, there is no need to repent or ask for forgiveness.

Thank you for raising this moral dilemma, will perhaps Dr. James White respond to him, or perhaps Shamoun can provide some of his famous logic for us?

  • Hi Ijaz,
This soteriological discussion is clearly something much deeper than a small comment can satisfy. But you would do well to remember that according to Paul, in the very same letter mind you, that our salvation and forgiveness of sins does not preclude striving for righteousness and holiness. Until this is completely attained, and while Christians still live in a sinful world with a (lessening) sinful nature, they will sin and ought to seek forgiveness from such sins knowing that God can and will forgive them because of Christ. In other words, both you and the pastor seem to have mixed your justification and sanctification categories which theologians have been careful to differentiate for centuries. Your moral dilemma is really a strawman cloaked in careful rhetoric due to a lack of careful exegesis and theology.

  • Hey (Sergius) Paul(us),

So cutting through the rhetoric, your response is:

“in the very same letter mind you, that our salvation and forgiveness of sins does not preclude striving for righteousness and holiness”

    Well, isn’t that circular reasoning?

“Christ died for all my sins, but I need to strive to be righteous.”

If you are sinless, how can you be unrighteous? Isn’t that conceding to the fact that the blood of Christ really didn’t forgive you, that you still need to ask God to forgive you and make you righteous?

If being sinless still makes you unrighteous, then being righteous means to be what?

  • No, not at all. Your comment here is, sadly, a modified version of the Islamic (and ancient) argument that forgiveness in Christ will result in lawlessness. Ironically, Paul addressed this response in his letter to the Romans. Who said I was sinless? Is that what you think Christians believe? If so, you need to freshen up on your Christian theology.
Perhaps you were unaware that the New Testament often talks of salvation as a past tense event, a current event and a future event. Once this is understood (properly) in conjunction to sanctification, you may be surprised how easily your objection crumbles. I suggest you read up on imputed righteousness and such, and see the implications for Christian living.

  • To correct you, my argument is simple and if it were so ‘ancient’, you’d atleast have the ability to say how I’m wrong instead of simply claiming it.

The fact remains that you cannot (in your theology), seek forgiveness for your own sins and that Christ has already paid the penalty for them, your salvation is necessitated on the premise that God has had to accept a sacrifice that you could not do, despite knowing that foregiveness can be attained without Christ as is noted in the Lord’s prayer where praying for forgiveness – without need of sacrifice is done.

  • First of all, mr. Ahmad I want to advice you to do research and find out who Martin Richling is.

He is calling himself a ‘pastor’ since spring 2012. They are a solitarian group of about 50 people now. He claims to teach the Bible correctly, which I found not to be true. He is a deceived man, who is deceiving others.

Since my husband (67) and son (30) became his followers in 2011, they abandoned all family and friends. We’re married in 1979 and now my husband thinks he needs to divorce me.

I’m Dutch and my english is not well enough to express myself in that language. In 1 John 1 en 2 you can read about the subject too and hopefully it will help you to get more understanding.

  • This is Martin Richling. I am happy to see that people are talking about this video. And the irony of it, is this… Most of you talking about it, are MOST LIKELY, lost and on your way to HELL your own selves. For if you do not understand Romans 3:24-26 in THE KING JAMES BIBLE, then indeed, you are deceived and LOST…
    812-725-5544 is my number.
    http://www.TheScripturesAloneBibleSchool.net is the website.
    Call me……

  • And the LIAR Anne Marie Verburgh is another deceived child of Satan who has chosen LIES above obedience to the scriptures and her GODLY husband, of whom she hates.
And she slanders me, for her OWN WICKED REBELLION AND SIN?
ANNE MARIE ! HELL FIRE AWAITS YOUR FOOLISH SOUL TOO UPON YOUR DEATH !
Bart tried to help your stubborn self, but you REJECTED the truth your husband brought unto you.

  • Mr. Richling, I don’t know what Bible you are reading or how you translate the scriptures but… 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” and Matthew 3:2 ” And saying, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Jesus calls on us to live righteously and to repent and ask for forgiveness for our sins. We sin everyday, all of us. God knows this and is why we are expected to repent for our sins. Also, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37. So let’s be respectful to Annmarie because you no right or power to judge and condemn her to hell. God Bless.

  • Martin Richling, you Sir are a funny man. I just got off the phone with you (well you hung up on me). The question I was trying to ask you (while you were yelling in my ear, asking me how I knew that I was saved). The question I was trying to ask you is this. Why is it that you call Pastor Anderson a “moron, loser, idiot” and every other derogatory statement that you can think of, just to try and get your point across. You have such anger in your heart. Even as I was trying to talk to you on the phone, you became VERY confrontational with me. You sir asked me “How do you know that you are saved by God” My response to you was, I believe in my Lord Jesus Christ, and I believe that he forgives me of my sins. Right away you stopped me by yelling “how do you know, what did you do to get forgiven” Once again you yelled at me, (lol) I said to you then that I have asked my lord for forgiveness. You proceeded to yell at me saying “show me in the bible where it says you have to ask for forgiveness”. I then asked you why you seem to think that you sir are the only one in this world that will be saved and I asked you what is your secret. How may we all follow you through the gates of heaven.. I pray for you, I pray that OUR Lord Jesus softens your hard heart. Please remember, And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness., And the one that most fits you dear sir is this, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches. I sir, will get into heaven because my lord told me so. You sir,,,,,, are a very angry man, calling people names, making fun of them. Believe me, My Lord does not like that AT ALL. May God bless to all the people that had to hear your message, and may God remove the hatred that comes from your mouth.

  • Thank you Martin Richling for your awesome teaching based on the Word of God rightly divided.

  • Hi Ijaz
There are reasons why we repent.

The first one is because it is a commandment of God.

Act 17:30    And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:Act 17:31    Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Secondly it keeps us in right relationship with God and man.

Mat 6:14    For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:Mat 6:15    But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

IJaz I thought you were an intelligent young man why are you posting this as though this guy is correct.

He teaches “prayer” is a work.

Paul said this in the book of Romans…

Rom 10:9    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.Rom 10:10    For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1Jn 1:7    But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.1Jn 1:8    If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.1Jn 1:9    If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.1Jn 1:10    If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

    The Ethiopian in Acts…

Act 8:34    And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?Act 8:35    Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.Act 8:36    And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?Act 8:37    And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

This man had to say something in order to get right with God.

For you to say this is what Muslims have been saying all along does not mean that you are right.

The above scriptures go against what he is saying maybe you and the pastor can tell us how to repent according the bible without speaking words to God.

The pastor says that PRAYER is a work.

  • @John Johnson…You have correctly discerned this man, Martin Richling! He is very prideful and angry! He teaches false doctrine and will scream and yell at anyone who disagrees with him! We have seen in this very thread how he uses ridicule to try and denounce others! Saul Alinsky, author of RULES FOR RADICALS would be impressed.
Mr. Annemarie Verbaugh my heart aches for you. I did my best to reason with your son Christiaan. He seems a bright young man but Richlings brainwashing has him mentally trapped. I will pray for you and your family Annemarie! I will pray for all who have been attacked by this ‘wolf dressed as a sheep’ Vengeance belongs to the Lord who is a swift and righteous judge! Mr. Martin Richling. In the name of Jeshua I demand your demons to depart from you immediately! May Father YHWH forgive your transgressions against Him and His children. Maranatha!

  • This reply is off topic, I know. But I think it’s important to show this truth about Martin Richling, that comes out of his own mouth, which a true believer in Jesus Christ easily should discern.

Ella Sajonas Orth, I suppose you are a believer in Jesus Christ? Did you ever hear the explanation Martin Richling gives about Jesus Christ in this audio http://www.bibleguardian.com/lessons/Lesson31-Romans5.mp3? What you should know, you can hear at +/- 28 minutes.

Martin Richling believes/says among other things:”The light there in Genesis 1 is Jesus Christ! He matches the light in John 1. Jesus Christ is a created son of God, God created him”.

He also says:”These people, who teach that Jesus Christ was always there as God is always there, see, God has always been there, don’t know the Scriptures.”

Do you also agree with Martin Richling, denying the diety of Jesus Christ? I wonder how you define “awesome teaching based on the Word of God?”

2 John 20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

  • Yes, he denies that the Son is eternally with the Father but was created on the first day of creation. He is heretic.

Forgiveness is multi-faceted in the bible. Past, present and future. The Lord’s prayer and the parable of the prodigal son don’t capture all aspects of forgiveness.

  • here is my experience with mr martin, i asked for help,he totally put me to the test, when i failed his test! he rejected me called me nimrod and told me next time send my message in a bottle??? i asked for a outline of one of his teachings about planets, solar system etc, just a few scriptural references, that i thought i could use to reach some homeless camp across the street from my home. he gave me the 3rd degree?! this was after 2 weeks of back and fourth emails.after the very nasty nimrod comment, message in a bottle remark,i back pedaled and connected on face book with mr richling, where he put me to the test again!then utterly rejected again with no regard!,hung up on me!i never said a bad word i asked for help and was rejected! i got the same spirit, from pat robertson. richling(ringling) wolf in sheeps clothing, very very good!he claims to be a self appointed son of god?!!!!! pointing out all the heretics, for your protection! there are no apostles today! this is just a man, teaching men!no more no less.he talks a lot about titles? he claims pastor? beware, hes making money somehow! i know that spirit, and it is not a good one. peace

  • I don’t know this pastor. I’ve only been researching churches in the area for my husband and I to go to. I found several pastors from different churches who disagree with each other. I am shocked by all the differences in teachings across the board.

I listened to the audio that Annemarie Verburgh posted. I don’t hear anywhere that Martin Richling has denied the deity of Jesus Christ by discussing “light” in Genesis, Colossians, Revelation and John.

Jesus Christ is the created Son of God.

How do you not know that?

You also said, “He also says: “These people, who teach that Jesus Christ was always there as God is always there, see, God has always been there, don’t know the Scriptures.”

No. He does not say that. Listen to it again. He says that Jesus Christ was the beginning of the creation of God. And after God created Jesus Christ, then Jesus Christ the Father God and the Holy Spirit created everything else.”

Then he goes on to discuss the light mentioned in Genesis at the beginning, how the “light” the scripture talks about was created before the stars, before the moon and before the sun.

There is nothing strange about him saying this. That IS what the Scripture says, does it not?

The light of the world IS Jesus Christ according to the scriptures.

What do you see or hear when you read it?

After discussing this, he goes on to say, “If you read the Bible and just let the bible speak unto itself and don’t come into it with preconceived ideas…..”

What’s wrong with that? Absolutely nothing.

In Revelation 3, it also says that Jesus Christ is the beginning of the creation of God. Colossians does say the same thing–that he is the first borne of every creature.

Why are people interpreting scripture to mean something different than what it says? It’s so simple. It means what it says.

Further in this audio, he says, “These people who teach that Jesus Christ was always there as God is always, see God has always been there, don’t know the scriptures.”

He is correct. God was first. Your quotation of what he said isn’t correct as it was said in the audio. Here is a side by side comparison.

Here is what you said he said: “These people, who teach that Jesus Christ was always there as God is always there, see, God has always been there, don’t know the Scriptures.”

This is what he actually said: “These people who teach that Jesus Christ was always there as God is always, see God has always been there, don’t know the scriptures.”

There are differences, even though small, that can cause people to misinterpret what someone has said because you aren’t listening to the nuances. This usually happens when you are looking at a situation subjectively (preconceived notions, resentments, etc) rather than objectively.

it’s clear to me that he is saying there are people who teach that Jesus Christ has always been there AS God has always been there and that is just not true. God has always been there. God created Jesus Christ.

What is wrong with just pointing out what scripture says at face value? I have listened to a few of his audios today and nowhere does he deny the deity of Jesus Christ. I don’t understand how you got to that conclusion.

This is exactly why Christians seem to have this “mystical” experience with the scripture and get so totally confused by this, that and the other. They take it all out of context and twist it to mean something other than what it says. Why do they do that?

I’ll admit. I have no idea who you are or what your story is. I’m sorry you are battling in your marriage. I hear you. I really do. Are you battling in your marriage because your husband says the scripture says something that you don’t agree with?

Why exactly does your husband want to divorce you? I’m really curious and I promise I’m not coming from a place of wickedness. I would love to chat with you and pray for your marriage, but from the looks of your comments here, I would completely understand it if you had reservations and fear about doing that.

  • I am so thankful that I understand that the KJV bible is All Authority and Salvation today is found in Romans 3:24-26 and also God my Father has a commandment on how to be Established in the faith. I am thankful for Pastor Martin who has spent the last 4 years teaching me the Scriptures correctly. Thanks again Pastor Martin.
